Keith Fitzgerald is the senior editor of American Heritage. He has worked as a copy editor and reporter for the Korea Herald in Seoul, and has been published as a freelance writer since 1990 in the International Herald Tribune, L.A. Times, L.A. Weekly, L.A. Reader, New Haven Register, Outbound Asia, River's Edge, Bakunin, and other papers and journals. He was also a university writing teacher for 15 years and won the top teaching award in USC's Freshman Writing Program in L.A.
Additionally, he has done freelance editing of scholars' works in Asia for some time and has completed the manuscript for his first book, All Roads Lead to My Lai, which is a collection of stories about his travels throughout East and Southeast Asia, mainly to atrocities sites connected to World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. His main interests are American and modern East Asian history, architecture, historical graves, crime documentaries, and great fiction.
