George Black

George Black is a writer, journalist, and editorial consultant living in New York City. He is the author of seven books on subjects ranging from India and China to foreign policy and flyfishing, and many long-form magazine articles on international politics, culture, and the environment. His writing has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and many other publications.

Black is a former columnist for the Los Angeles Times and was foreign editor of The Nation from 1986 to 1991. His book Empire of Shadows: The Epic Story of Yellowstone was a finalist for the 2013 Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
