Plane crashes into Empire State Building
During a routine transport flight an Army Air Corps B-25 plane crashes into the Empire State Building in New York City, killing fourteen people.
The Fourteenth Amendment is adopted following its ratification by three-quarters of the states. The amendment overturns the Dred Scott decision and will serve as the basis for the Supreme Court's ruling in Brown v. Board of Education.
